Eur Arch Otorhinolaryngol 1991;248:425-427. </ref>는 레이저 시술의사에서 실제로 HPV와 관련된 후두유두종증 (laryngeal papillomatosis)이 발생하였다고 보고하였다. 그러므로 시술자나 시술보조자가 첨규콘딜롬의 소작 시 발생하는 연기를 흡입하는 것은 호흡기 유두종증을 유발할 수 있으므로 특별히 주의하여야 한다.
 *전기소작술이나 CO2 레이저소작술을 시행할 때는 필터를 갖춘 연기흡입장치를 갖추어야하며, 시술 시 최대한 공기 중에 입자가 날리지 않도록 흡입기를 시술부위에 가깝게 하여야 한다. 또한 시술공간에 대한 적절한 환기를 유지하며, 흡입감염의 위험을 최소화 할 수 있도록 시술자는 특수 마스크를 착용하는 것이 권장된다.
